Roman Payne, extract:
“O, wandress, wandress
When did you feel your
most euphoric kiss?
Was I the source
of your greatest bliss?”
My greatest love and my most euphoric kiss has been and I think it will always be with the sea.
My (old style) response to Roman Payne:
O, my beloved, my dearest
I shall never love another,
Such devotion is impossible
The way I love thee!
I drown my sorrows
Mingle my depths with yours.
Cleanse my body!
Take my spirit!
All I am
And will ever be.
To the waves of your eternity
I lose my boundaries
I tremble at the sight of you
I bid my farewells in silence.
With each return I feel anew
With longing, passion, love
At the sight of you.
Caress me, the returning wandress
O, my bewitcher, the sea!
Lovely

Beautiful. I’ve lived in the desert most of my life, but when I visit my relatives in England, I’m drawn to the sea.

I totally understand you. The sea is for me like this omnipotent being, vibrant, mysterious and deeply connected to the root of existence. I have never been to the desert, but I fantasize about it. I think I have a strong connection and longing for the desert too. I feel this sweet sadness when I imagine the desert.

I live in Arizona, so it’s not sand dunes like the Sahara, but hard, dry earth, cactus and desert trees and bushes. It can be very rugged and beautiful away from the city.

That kind of landscape has its raw beauty too. Actually all types of natural landscapes have a quality or spirit that matches the human soul’s many facets.

calls to thee

Great response. I invite more people to make their own short poem, line or stanza about the sea.
